The 40 vol. strength lifted my dark brown hair two shades in one go, and the cream consistency made it easy to spread evenly without dripping. I left it on for the full 30 minutes and the results were even, no patchiness at all.

I’ve used other 40 volume developers before, but this one mixed up much smoother and didn’t drip as much during application. My roots came out a solid three shades lighter with just one round.

It's been around for decades for a reason — this 40 vol. kit lifted my base color evenly in about 30 minutes. I just wish the mixing instructions were a bit clearer on the bottle, but the results were solid.
